Karas Lobster

Here are some culinary news from recent visit to West Papua.

The first stop was Kaimana and stayed a couple of days in Kaimana Beach Hotel. The hotel restaurant was located across the street and it served very good seafood. However, need to be very patient because the food would come after an order was placed for one hour. They simply did not have enough cook and with only one kitchen. Apart from that, ikan bakar rica, cumi bakar and cah kangkung are the most recommended ones in their menu.

Next, we went to Karas in Fakfak District, a small village by the beach. This was the real experience. We were served by Snail Satay, Deer Curry, Lobster, variety of Fish (almost all time). They were very creative and cooked very well. All food was rated excellent from my point of view.

Lastly, we stopped over in Biak and stayed for a night in Aerotel. We had dinner in the hotel and I ordered Grilled Konro. It was very good, but after 11 days of trip, I just missed Bakmi Gajah Mada in Jakarta :)
