Bebek Goreng Joko Putro

Both Pak Djoko and Joko Putro in Jalan Petogogan have long history with me. I grew up being a loyal customer to Soto Madura Pak Djoko. Joko Putro, Pak Djoko’s son, used to help Pak Djoko serving the consumer. It was not until I was in college (or high school?) that Joko Putro opened up Nasi Uduk and Begor Joko Putro only less than 100 m distance from Soto Madura Pak Djoko.

I remember vividly that at the first one or two year, Begor Joko Putro was not as busy as it is now. It was the resilience of Joko Putro (a.k.a Sugeng) and his wife that made it to the success. Nowadays, Begor Joko Putro is always crammed full and the customers consist of celebrities, politicians and ordinary people, like myself :) I hate it sometimes when it causes the traffic jam along Petogogan II road since people have to park at the roadside; however I could not blame on them because the food is terrific. The crispy deep fried duck and its sambal with nasi uduk is a perfect combination. Moreover, it is very cheap. We ended up paying only Rp 57 K for three starving persons. Awesome!
