Bakmi Jawa Pak Pele

A visit to Jogja will not complete without having Bakmi Jawa. What made it special is that Bakmi Jawa is cooked by arang, so it is slower than cooking with the ordinary stove but this is why the taste is medhok (tasteful). There are several places that serve Bakmi Jawa. One place famous for the Jogjan is Warung Makan dan Lesehan Pak Pele at North Alun-Alun Jogjakarta, just right in the corner of SD Keputran.

Pak Pele would ask the customer what they want: either Bakmi Rebus or Nasi Goreng. He would further ask whether we would like also to mix it with rice noodle (bihun) for Bakmi Rebus. We all ordered Bakmi Rebus and we had to wait for about 20-25 minutes but it was worth the time. The bakmi was excellent though it was not using sweet soy sauce like Bakmi Rebus Bumen Jaya in Jakarta. For condiment, there were acar timun and cabe rawit if you would like it to be very spicy. You could imagine how good it was by looking at the photos..... Paid only under Rp 70 K for 4 people and guess who ate the bakmi with rice... :)
